A method may be declared as static, meaning that it acts at the class level rather than at the instance level.

Photovoltaic cell

Photovoltaic Cell:

A Photovoltaic cell or simple Solar cell causes an electromotive force to be generated in the presence of light across the boundary of two substances.

How does a Photovoltaic Cell works:

The "photovoltaic effect" is the basic physical method through which a PV cell converts sunlight into electricity.

Sunlight is composed of photons, or particles of solar energy. These photons contain diverse allowances of power corresponding to the different wavelengths of the solar spectrum. When photons hit a PV cell, they may be echoed or absorbed, or they may pass right through. Only the absorbed photons develop electricity. When this happens, the power of the photon is transferred to an electron in an atom of the cell (which is really a semiconductor). With its new discovered power, the electron is able to get away from its usual place associated with that atom to become part of the present in an electric circuit. By leaving this place, the electron causes a aperture" to pattern. Exceptional electric properties of the PV cell—a built-in electric field—provide the voltage required to propel the current through an external burden (such as a light bulb).
